Create Innovative and Inspiring Meat Free School Menus with Quorn

We will be launching a range of downloadable assets which will be available on the newly launched Education Toolkit https://www.quornfoodservice.co.uk/education including recipe ideas and nutrition information, to help support caterers and engage pupils throughout the week.

Quorn’s team of Home Economists will be working closely with schools providing demos and educational workshops in person or virtually to highlight just how easy it is to prepare delicious meat free meals.

Throughout National School Meals Week, we will be supporting their customers with each of the five daily themes:

  • Monday ‘Go Meat Free’ – already a success, the Quorn Professionals website is packed with recipe ideas that can help school caterers make Meat Free Mondays the favourite day of every child’s week.

  • Tuesday ‘The School Meal Oscars’ – we are encouraging schools to showcase how their favourite school meals can be made meat free and taste delicious, creating dishes that are healthier for them and the planet.

  • Wednesday ‘National Roast Dinner Day’ – we will be highlighting how a traditional roast dinner can be made meat free with its range of online recipes.

  • Thursday ‘The Great British School Lunch’ – Quorn Mince, Sausages and Pieces can all be used to create British meat free family favourite meals. Quorn’s online toolkit has a range of fact sheets for all the most popular products, showcasing how making a small switch to one of these products can reduce our environmental impact.

  • Friday ‘Thank You Key Workers’ – looking for recipe ideas for your local MP? The handy online toolkit can also help you calculate how much CO2 you have saved by serving your MP a Quorn lunch. Head over to https://www.quornfoodservice.co.uk/education and express your interest for further information on how this can work.

“National School Meals Week is even more important this year, as caterers, teachers and pupils are easing back into the new normality of school lunches. Healthy and sustainable meat free options are becoming a staple on many school canteen menus and Quorn has such a wide range of versatile and convenient products that make this easier than ever before, which alleviates some of the added pressure on school caterers,” says Claire Roper, Head of Marketing Foodservice at Quorn Professionals.

“This has been a year full of uncertainty for everyone and, like many others, school caterers are now having to adapt to new ways of working and feeding pupils, whether it be staggered lunchtimes or serving school meals outside of the dinner hall, we know how important it is that we do all we can to support school caterers,” adds Claire.
